The Spanish Pavilion

The Biennale: Spanish Pavilion

On 5 November 2015 I went to Venice with my class 4R. In Venice I visited the Biennale, which is an international exhibition of contemporary art. There are works that represent each state. This year the theme was “All the world’s futures”. The authors had to respect three “filters” for their work: the Capital, Vitality and the Garden of Disaster.

During the visit to the Biennale I stopped at the Spanish Pavilion. In this pavilion there were many rooms, in one there was a pillar turning. The author of this work is Pepo Salazar. The name of this work is “Modus operandi”. This machine is formed by aluminium tubes, one wedged with each other. Many objects are hanging from these tubes, such as microphones, bags, lights, speakers, wigs, gloves, faces and wires. For me the message is that society today is like a mechanized force, a machine, namely that we are slaves of companies. The author represents society as formed by suspended objects.
