SANTA CROCE LAKE

StartFragment

Santa Croce Lake is a natural lake (whose basin was extended in the thirties) located in the Alpago area. The lake is near the town of Farra d'Alpago; the western side is crossed by the road "Alemagna" that connects Belluno to Treviso. It has a water capacity of 120 million cubic meters, crossed to the north by a dam that raises the level to 386 meters. The lake is very popular among windsurfers and sailors who go out near the city of Poiatte. This lake is characterised by an afternoon thermal wind similar to the one on the Garda Lake, that blows from south to north from the early afternoon until evening. To the south there is Mount Millifret. Overall, Santa Croce Lake as regards the sailing sports can be considered a lake adequately ventilated and is visited every year by a large number of tourists and sporty people who like swimming, diving, sailing, surfing or simply trekking along the pebble beaches.
