From January I started a new swimming course to become a lifeguard. Besides being a business opportunity, it is an opportunity for personal growth. It is a course promoted by the FIN (Italian Swimming Federation) and in order to participate I had to pass some practical swimming tests. The course has a limited number of partecipants admitted. The duration is four months and at the end I will have to sit a practical exam in water, an oral test about the matters dealt with during the first aid lessons and a practical demonstration on cardio-pulmonary resuscitation. Once you obtain the license you can work as a swimming assistant and instructor in every swimming pool of Europe. The lessons are held in the swimming pool of S.Giustina and Agordo, near Belluno, Italy, sometimes even in the diving pool of Belluno to rescue proxy swimmers from a depth of 5 meters. The course prepares the partecipants to work in case of natural disasters, knowing about the rules of rescue in water and knowing how to deal with an environmental pollution, being able to perfom the necessary water treatments for proper maintenance. Swimming is the only sport that saves your life, while rescue is the only sport that makes you save both your life and others'.
