Christmas Market, Freiburg

The Christmas markets of Freiburg are located in the Town Hall Square, in the heart of the historic center, and are considered one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Germany. Every year many tourists are attracted by the charming atmosphere. The charm is in the square with historical buildings and in the typical goods on display. The 122 stalls are located around the Gothic cloister of the Franciscan monastery of Saint Martin Church and the façades of the town hall. The wooden houses open in the four weeks before Christmas and they pay homage to the tradition of the Black Forest. You can see woodcarvers, polishers of precious stones and potters. You can eat typical products such as sauerkraut, bacon and smoked sausages. You can buy candles, wooden puppets and gifts of all kinds. The markets close on the 23rd December with the arrival of Santa Claus, that gives sweets to children.
